State Department of Environmental Quality officials are monitoring many of the streams in the region, including this stretch of water flowing through Roda. Studies show that TMDLs, or Total Maximum Daily Loads, of bacteria and sediment are excessive in several stretches of the Powell River. Officials say elimination of straight-piping and curbing sedimentation runoff from mined lands and other sources will be needed to get the river off the state's Impaired Waters' list.Click Hereto order photo reprints
