Coal gets partial tax credit victory

The decline in coal industry employment, coupled with modest gains in other industries, has resulted in a waning of coal’s importance in the regional economy. Coal jobs were 13.2 percent of the region’s economy in 1990; that fell to 5.3 percent by 2013.
