Locals to perform at Heartwood

Big Stone Gap’s own The Childress Girls will be featured in concert Thursday, March 8 at Heartwood in Abingdon. The concert, from 6:30-8 p.m., is part of the Crooked Road Music Series. The Childress Girls have performed at churches, farmers’ markets, music venues and festivals including Natural Tunnel State Park, Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park, Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion, Home Craft Days, The Crooked Road’s Youth Music Festival and the Blue Ridge Music Center JAM Day. They play a mix of traditional hymns and mountain fiddle tunes and songs. Admission to the concert is free. Donations will be accepted for the Crooked Road traditional music education program.
