SUSAN ESTHER PEACOCK
June 09, 2026
Susan Esther Peacock, born March 7, 1952 in Tacoma, Washington,
passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026 in Methodist Hospital, Richardson,
Texas.
Susan was a graduate of Eastern Washington University, and East
Tennessee University. She lived a life devoted to learning, the arts, and the
people she loved. She worked as a costumer for the Greater Miami Opera
Company. A passionate educator, she spent more than twenty years
teaching Spanish at Pennington Gap, Virginia, and Mountain Empire
Community College in Big Stone Gap, where her warmth, intelligence, and
dedication left a lasting impression on countless lives.
Outside the classroom, Susan had a deep love for theater and an immense
appreciation for books and lifelong learning. Music was also a constant
source of joy in her life, and she especially loved listening to the Beatles
and to her daughter Patricia play her cello. In later years, she discovered a
passion for cross-stitching, finding comfort and creativity in every carefully
crafted piece. She presented many to family and friends who cherish them.
Susan will be remembered for her kindness, intellect, creativity, and the
genuine care she showed to those around her.
She is survived by her mother, Patricia Claire Brown, her daughter, Patricia
Larsen, and her three siblings, James Peacock of Carson City, Nevada,
Scott Peacock of Wiley, Texas and Lisa Murphy of Little Elm, Texas.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, former students, and all who
had the privilege of knowing her.
She will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery, New Bedford, Pennsylvania.
It is the family’s wish that any remembrance be sent to the Bristol TN/VA
Embroidery Guild of America in care of Sandra Jalelonski, 240 East Main
St. Johnson City, TN 37604.
A healthy Wise County requires great community news.
