John (J.B.) Masters

John Barton (J.B.) Masters, age 95, died on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at his daughter’s home in Beavercreek, Ohio.
John is survived by his daughter, Joyce Casci (Arthur), sister, Pat Adams (Randy), grandchildren, Anne Ausserer (Joseph), Elizabeth Bier (James), John Casci (Kylie), Mary Schuh (Ryan), and 11 great-grandchildren, Daniel, Lucy, Christopher, Benjamin, Andrew, Katherine, Vivian, Theodore, Baby Bier, Maya, and Emmett.
J.B. is preceded in death by his wife, Lucy, daughter, Janis Verrill (Lyle), parents, Maxie and Harry Masters, brother Leroy (Tom) Masters, and sister, Joanne Tiller.
John Masters was born on January 8, 1930, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, to parents, Maxie and Harry Masters. As a youth, he was baptized in the Christian Church. J.B. was married to his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Lucy Sturgill on September 1, 1950. The newlyweds endured years of separation as J.B. went off to Business College in Roanoke, Virginia while Lucy moved to Dayton, Ohio to find employment. After school, the couple had a few months together in Dayton, before J.B. was drafted for Army service in Korea. Upon his return to Dayton, J.B. worked for Inland Division of General Motors for over 30 years as an accountant. J.B. was the gentlest of souls, a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He lived a life of selfless service to his family, extended family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Burial of J.B. Masters and his wife Lucy’s remains are planned for 11:00 am Saturday, October 4th at Glencoe Cemetery.
