BARBARA ANN WILSON

Barbara Ann Wilson (Frazier), age 80, of Big Stone Gap, VA passed away on January 6, 2024.

She was a lifelong resident of Big Stone Gap and a beloved member of the community. She grew up in the Baum Hollow area with the Frazier family, her parents Tom and Juanita Frazier along with her siblings. Early in her life she loved nature and the outdoors and spent many hours working in the garden or simply enjoying the mountains she called home. Later in life she enjoyed crafting and making decorations from things she found in nature. She found comfort in watching gameshows and older westerns. However, above everything else she loved her family. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.

She leaves behind her sons, Michael and David, her brothers Johnny and Charles, her grandchildren, Brooklyn, Alex, and Brett, her great grandchildren Hayden and Carter, and all her nieces, nephews, and friends. They will deeply miss her. She has joined her parents Tom and Juanita Frazier, and her siblings Helen, Nina, Junior, and Laura who are no doubt joyous to welcome her home.

Barbara epitomized the idea of Appalachian stoicism. No matter what challenge was in front of her, she faced it head on and without complaint. She dedicated her life to helping those around her. Family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers were the beneficiaries of her kindness and selfless generosity. She was especially fond of helping any and all children that crossed her path. She always placed the needs of others first and above her own. She made the world a better place.

In order to celebrate her life and offer an opportunity to share memories and say goodbye, there will be a memorial gathering held at Holding Funeral Home (17 E 3rd Street N Big Stone Gap, VA 24219) It will be from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
