Six deaths, 111 new cases

New COVID-19 cases — and related deaths — continue to surge in Wise County following holiday gatherings.

The county reported 111 new COVID-19 cases between Dec. 26 and Tuesday.

According to Virginia Department of Health statistics, the county’s total number of cases since spring 2020 was 15,637 as of Tuesday, compared to 15,526 one week earlier.

Wise County’s total number of COVID deaths increased by six, from 248 to 254.
