DOROTHY BAILEY

Proverbs 31:27 “She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up and call her blessed…Give her the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.”

Dorothy Bailey age 79, entered eternal rest with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 24, 2023, at her home in Powell Valley, surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was born in Appalachia, Virginia to the late Rev. Dewey E. and Crystal Marie (Monday) Wilford. She was one of eight children. Dorothy was a devoted Christian woman who served the Lord diligently for 46 years. She attended and served several of the churches in the area. Dorothy was a gifted florist. She was a prayer warrior and would pray for anyone at any time. She once prayed for a man whom God saw fit to restore his vision. Her family said that everyone who knew her received a blessing. She will be sorely missed by everyone.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings, Della Mae Melton, Monetta Faye Holbrook, Charles Edward Wilford, Lonnie Gene Wilford, and Ronnie Max Wilford.

She is survived by her son, Jimmy Gene Bailey; sisters, Geneva Wilford Cobb, and Shirley Ann Sturgill (Ronald); several nieces, nephews, close relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Holding Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.. A celebration of life service will follow in the funeral home’s chapel. The service will be officiated by family and friends.
