MARILYN REACH LAYMAN

Marilyn Reach Layman, age 80, of Hanover, Virginia, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023. Marilyn was a retired labor and delivery registered nurse at Henrico Doctors' Hospital – Forest, and previously served as a Cardiac Technician with the Providence Forge Volunteer Rescue Squad. Marilyn was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College, Bristol, Virginia, where she earned her Nursing Degree. She was also a member of First Christian Church, Big Stone Gap, Virginia, and a cheerleader at Powell Valley High School, Big Stone Gap, Virginia.

Marilyn was the loving wife of the late James Tulley Layman; devoted mother of Thomas "Todd" Shelton Layman and J. Troy Layman (Jessica Layman); stepmother of Michael Allen Layman (Leanne Layman); cherished grandmother of Jacob Austin Layman, Kristin Nicole Layman and Jocelyn Sophia Layman; step-grandmother of Kyle Thomas Layman and Kevin Michael Layman; sister of Anna Lou Reach and sister-in-law of Jessie McNamee Reach. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louie Reach and Cleo Shelton Reach; husband, James Tulley Layman; siblings, James Edward Reach, Christine Reach Waldrop (Gene Paul Waldrop), and Harold Louie Reach.
