CSX 8122 West wheels around a curve between East Stone Gap and Big Stone Gap going into “Furnace Dip”—a low spot named for the old iron furnace that was once located on the east side of the tracks opposite Heritage Hall Nursing Home in the early 20th century. The bridge crosses the South Fork of Powell River.
