JAMES LEE BARKER

It is with deep sorrow that the Barker family announces the death of Mr. James Lee Barker, 88. Mr. Barker entered into rest on Sunday, February 5, 2023.

The Directors of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home are caring for the family.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9th, 2023, in the Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 8th, 2023, at the Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home.

Mr. Barker was born in Stonega, VA, to the late Hubert and Winston King Barker. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant. He proudly served his country for over 29 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He had a special bond with his neighbors and was often finding ways to share his love and concern with them. He will be missed immensely.

Surviving are his daughters, Gail Barker Kirven (Keith) of Cassatt, SC, Sharon Barker Crews (Tom) of Concord, NC; sisters, Kay Sphar (Dave) of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Winky New (Bob) of Sidney, OH; granddaughter, Morgan Kirven; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Drozdowski Barker; brothers, Bill Barker, Randall Barker; sister, Marion Hope Zaynor.
