DONALD C. “BUD” GIBSON

Donald C. “Bud” Gibson, age 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 13, 2023. He was born in Stonega, VA on November 25, 1935, to the late Lester and Eva Kinsler Gibson. He retired from Westmoreland Coal Company in 1995 where he worked for 27 years. Bud and his wife, Anne, were members of Andover United Methodist Church in Andover, VA before moving to Big Stone Gap where they later became members of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Bud is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-seven years, Anne Stout Gibson; an infant daughter, Katherine; and one brother, Bobby Gibson.

Bud leaves behind to cherish many wonderful memories, his son: Donald E. Gibson and wife, Peggy, and one brother John L. Gibson, all of Big Stone Gap, VA. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews of whom he loved dearly.

The family received friends from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Reverend Mike Sampson, Rev. Bob Long, and Ross Kegan officiated the 6:00 p.m. funeral service. Committal was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens is Big Stone Gap. Family and friends met at the cemetery.
