County sees 36 cases

Wise County reported 36 new COVID-19 cases between Dec. 14 and yesterday.

According to Virginia Department of Health statistics, the county’s total number of cases since spring 2020 was 13,309 as of yesterday, compared to 13,273 one week earlier.
The county’s total of COVID deaths remained at 223.
Statewide, the total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began rose from 1,529,714 Dec. 14 to 1,536,382 yesterday, an increase of 6,668. The number of “probable” cases in Virginia rose from 641,700 Dec. 14 to 646,222 yesterday, an increase of 4,522.
During the same period, the number of confirmed deaths increased by 27 to 18,738. The number of probable COVID-19 deaths increased by 15 to 3,872.
