County reports 79 cases in a week

Wise County reported 79 new COVID-19 cases between Oct. 26 and yesterday.

According to Virginia Department of Health statistics, the county’s total number of cases since spring 2020 was 13,003 as of yesterday, compared to 12,924 one week earlier.
The county’s total of COVID deaths remained at 212.

Statewide, the total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began rose from 1,495,454 Oct. 26 to 1,500,126 Wednesday, an increase of 4,672. The number of “probable” cases in Virginia rose from 619,304 Oct. 26 to 622,313 yesterday, an increase of 3,009.
During the same period, the number of confirmed deaths increased by 37 to 18,438. The number of probable COVID-19 deaths increased by 19 to 3,773.
