County reports 65 cases

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Wise County increased by 65 between Sept. 14 and Wednesday.

The Virginia Department of Health reported Wednesday morning that the county’s total confirmed cases in the months since the pandemic began had risen to 12,945 — up from 12,880 one week earlier.
However, the number of Wise County COVID-19 deaths was revised down by one, from 209 to 208. The reason was not immediately available.

Statewide, the total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began rose from 1,464,990 Sept. 14 to 1,471,661 Wednesday, an increase of 6,671. The number of “probable” cases in Virginia rose from 601,685 Sept. 14 to 605,253 yesterday, an increase of 3,568.
During the same period, the number of confirmed deaths increased by 64 to 18,059. The number of probable COVID-19 deaths increased by 19 to 3,670.
