County: 99 new cases reported in a week

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Wise County increased by 99 between June 29 and Wednesday.

The Virginia Department of Health reported Wednesday morning that the county’s total confirmed cases in the months since the pandemic began had risen to 11,021 — up from 10,922 one week earlier.
The number of Wise County COVID-19 deaths remained at 204.

Statewide, the total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began rose from 1,332,498 June 29 to 1,344,739 Wednesday, an increase of 12,241. The number of “probable” cases in Virginia rose from 533,419 June 29 to 539,507 yesterday, an increase of 6,088.
During the same period, the number of confirmed deaths increased by 85 to 17,256. The number of probable COVID-19 deaths increased by 35 to 3,435.
