County: 135 new cases reported over one week

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Wise County increased by 135 between June 15 and Wednesday.

The Virginia Department of Health reported Wednesday morning that the county’s total confirmed cases in the months since the pandemic began had risen to 10,809 — up from 10,674 one week earlier.
The number of Wise County COVID-19 deaths remained at 200.

Statewide, the total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began rose from 1,308,587 June 15 to 1,319,737 Wednesday, an increase of 11,150. The number of “probable” cases in Virginia rose from 521,535 June 15 to 527,168 yesterday, an increase of 5,633.
During the same period, the number of confirmed deaths increased by 34 to 17,103. The number of probable COVID-19 deaths remained at 3,379.
