Another death, 112 new cases are reported

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Wise County increased by 112 between June 1 and Wednesday.

The Virginia Department of Health reported Wednesday morning that the county’s total confirmed cases in the months since the pandemic began had risen to 10,590 — up from 10,478 one week earlier.
The number of Wise County COVID-19 deaths increased by one, from 199 to 200.

Statewide, the total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began rose from 1,281,717 June 1 to 1,295,586 Wednesday, an increase of 13,869. The number of “probable” cases in Virginia rose from 509,009 June 1 to 515,780 yesterday, an increase of 6,771.
During the same period, the number of confirmed deaths increased by 32 to 17,054.

The number of probable COVID-19 deaths increased by four to 3,382.
