Vaccination codes now available

September 29, 2021

The Virginia Department of Health has added quick response (QR) codes to COVID-19 vaccination records.

QR codes, barcodes that can be scanned with smartphones, are commonly used in retail, logistics and other economic sectors, the health department noted last week. This addition will let people show proof of vaccination with a digital or printed QR code instead of a paper card, and without needing an app.

You can visit vaccinate.virginia.gov to obtain a free vaccination record with a QR code that can be saved to a photo gallery, printed on paper or stored in an account.
