Big Stone Gap, VA — The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park host its next “Lunch on the Lawn” music series on Friday, August 13 at noon, featuring Richard Phillips and Friends.

Richard Phillips and Friends consists of Richard, Tommy Clements and Chris Rose. Tommy is a multi-instrumentalist with many years’ experience playing all types of music. Tommy got his musical start as a teen-ager playing in “The Trail of the Lonesome Pine.” Richard is a singer/songwriter who has recorded eight studio albums of his original music. He has played in many local festivals and events and currently teaches at the Mountain Music School summer program at Mountain Empire Community College. Chris is one of the preeminent guitarists in Southwest Virginia. He teaches music at UVA Wise and M.E.C.C. and has taken his students on performance tours in Europe and around the world.

The “Lunch on the Lawn” event is free and open to the public. Dough & Joe will be on site serving their delicious donuts and coffee.

The park will comply with the state Covid 19 regulations in place at the time the program is offered.
