Live Musical Performance

Here’s an open invitation for all to experience an extraordinary live musical performance here in Big Stone Gap on Sunday evening July 18 at 7 pm.

No admission charge, so just walk in and take a seat in the comfort of the June Tolliver Playhouse, where the Trail of the Lonesome Pine Outdoor Drama is held. In the event of rain, there is an alternate indoor within a quarter mile.

Get up, get out and enjoy the joy of living again with a 50-piece wind ensemble and soul stirring sounds of great Cinematic musical scores by Winds of the Mountain Empire Cinematic under the direction of Dr. Donnie Sorah Jr.

Cruisin’ Main Street

Cruisin’ Main Street in Appalachia is this Saturday, July 10 starting at 5 pm.

Railroad Days

Mark you calendars for Railroad Days in Appalachia beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 4, Gospel choir singing at the outdoor amphitheater on Main Street. Each evening will have music, food and lots of people anxious to visit with one another after a long “quarantine”.

Saturday will be all day events ending around 12 midnight. It will be a great lineup so just make plans to be here.

Facebook Page for the Town of Appalachia will give a complete line up of events that is scheduled for each day and evening for the Railroad Festival.

Condolences

We send our condolences to our friend Sue Aistrop for the death of her dear mother, Margaret “Lizzy” Lane in Big Stone Gap.

She was the kindest lady I ever knew. When we worked for Clara May Sanders I got to know her and enjoyed working with her. She was a mother to everyone she knew.

In our neighborhood on Brown Street, the old Bottom section, there was a very nice, beautiful fireworks display. They lit up the sky and were not too noisy.
