Celebrating Birthdays
Our dear friend, Calaie Worley, is celebrating her birthday on July 3rd. Happy birthday!
On July 4th our friend, Marilyn Young, is celebrating her birthday.
Happy birthday Marilyn.
July 9th Barbara H. Gibson will be celebrating her birthday. We all wish our friend, Barbara, a happy birthday.
Johnny Aistrop celebrated his 76th birthday last week on June 25th. Johnny’s loving wife, Sue, made sure Johnny celebrated in a special way.
Keep Johnny and Sue in your prayers. The past years Johnny has underwent many serious operations, endured chemo treatments and radiation. They are very strong in their belief in God and the love for one another. We all wish Johnny a belated birthday wish!
Dog Days
Watch and see the weather condition on July 3rd. Dog Days set in on this date.
July 4th Celebration
We will be celebrating the 4th of July holiday with a family gathering on Saturday, July 3rd at our home in Appalachia. Joining us will be our daughter, Sabrina and her husband Richard, from Smyrna, GA, Danny Bush from Oak Ridge, TN, Gloria Smith from Abingdon, Seth Smith from Knoxville, TN, and our son, Shawn and his family from Wise.
Our family is small but we will be able to celebrate and enjoy one another’s company another holiday.
The Fourth of July was always a special day for us when we were younger living in Inman. We had soda pop in bottles and watermelons. Our dad put all this in a large wash tub and it was placed on the porch We enjoyed all this because it was the special way we celebrated the 4th of July and later we all got an ice cream in a cone! Wonderful way to end the 4th of July and for those who could afford them, firecrackers and sparklers were the highlight of the evening.
I have great memories of our family gatherings for the holidays and Fourth of July was a very important one.
Correction
I need to make a correction in the news last week. Susan Barnett and Janet Chandler are the co-chairs in the Moving Appalachia Forward program for the town of Appalachia. Chris Williams is chairperson of Appalachia Main Street for the town of Appalachia and a member of Special Projects for the town.
