Union Middle School students under the direction of James Hamilton worked to make sure this 1930s desk was fully restored. This project was done in conjuncture with the Appalachia High School Alumni Association and the Moving Appalachia Forward Committee to donate for use in the Kelly View School that is housed at the Powell River Trail entrance in Appalachia. Pictures of the Kelly View School, along with the desk that was restored, are on display with other desks that are housed in the one-room school building. SUBMITTED PHOTO
