second Covid Vaccine

Gary and I received our second Covid vaccine on Friday. No problem, all went well, no side effects! We have received our card of identification. Now we can fly, if we need to.

Gasoline War

Monday morning we were driving to Kingsport to see the eye doctor. As we were leaving Appalachia I noticed the price of gas was $2.30 a gallon for regular gasoline. Later in the evening it was $2.45 a gallon! Can you imagine what kind of a price we are going to have to pay? Another gasoline war.

Condolences

Appalachia has lost it’s oldest living senior citizen, Mildred Adams, 102 years old.  She passed away at The Laurels in Norton on February 11th. Mildred had made her home there for the last four years. She graduated from Appalachia High School in 1935. She attended Ohio State in Columbus, OH. Mildred attended the Presbyterian Church in Appalachia and Big Stone Gap for many years. We send condolences to her family.

Passing of Childhood Friend

We were saddened to learn of the passing of a childhood friend from Inman. Bob (Muscles) Hall, 79 years old, passed away on February 13th in Rochester, KY. Bob had made his home in Rochester for many years after leaving Inman as a very young man. We had not seen Bob for many years and a few years ago he attended the Inman reunion held in Inman and he had not changed in his appearance. He still had a big smile on his face and looked like his Uncle Maniel Anderson. Bob was converted and loved the Lord the last 10 years of his life and loved to witness of what God had done for him. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Margie and James Hall and sister Jennie H. Perry. Surviving are his brother Larry, sisters Pat, Jodi and Debbie. We send our condolences to his family.

Miss Attending Church

It is hard to believe I have not been to church in a building since March 15th of last year. All my life I have been faithful in attendance at church both Sunday morning and Sunday night. Now we watch four ministers on regular TV and 3 on Google with WiFi and cast from the cell phone over to the TV.  Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia are the three states we watch their church services on Sunday.

Our Sunday is pretty well filled with the new way we are attending church services. This has become a way of life for me this past year. I am thankful for the services and Gary for operating the equipment for us. I do not understand the technology today! I am thankful for it’s ability for our being in their church services.  Who knows when we will be able to go out without a mask on our nose and mouth and actually attend church again. Just imagine how hard it is on our friends and family members who are in a retirement and nursing facility and no one is allowed to visit.

We cannot visit or talk to Nancy but we can pray for her. We ask you to please keep Nancy Buchanan on your prayer chain. The heart attack has left her very weak. She has home health with nursing and therapist tending to her and the staff of The Laurels where she lives. No visitors are allowed in The Laurels due to the Covid. Please don’t forget our friends in these facilities.

There is sunshine and there is rain

There is laughter and there is pain

There is loss and there is gain

There is hope in Jesus’ name!
