ALICE MARIE CHISENHALL
Alice Marie (Upchurch) Chisenhall, 92, returned to her heavenly father peacefully on November 27, 2020 at Gulfside Hospice of Zephyrhills, Florida. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her for the previous two years in a nursing home. She is now at peace with her life.
Alice Marie was born to the late Sid and Si Upchurch of Big Stone Gap, VA. Alice was born in Roda, VA on October 22, 1928. She was immersed in the Christian faith from a very young age and served the Lord Jesus Christ throughout her long life.
Alice Marie, who went by her middle name of "Marie" to all of her friends and family, was blessed with a loving family. She raised four children and helped raise four grandchildren with patience, discipline and humility. Marie loved to grow flowers and work crossword puzzles.
Marie was a housewife married for 62 years to her coal-miner husband, William F. Chisenhall, now deceased. Marie and family lived in Big Stone Gap until 1967, at which time they moved to Florida to start a new life. In Florida, Marie and her family became members of the Dade City Church of God, in Dade City Florida, and were members throughout their remaining lives.
Marie is survived by her children, Brenda Chisenhall Jessee of Lakeland, FL; Frank Chisenhall of Valrico, FL; Wayne Chisenhall of Croom-a-Coache, FL; and Shanda Chisenhall Welsch of Dade City, FL. Her daughters in-law are Okyo Chisenhall (Frank) and Janet Chisenhall (Wayne). Her grandchildren includes Sonia Gilly of Big Stone Gap, VA; Timothy Chisenhall of Johnson City, TN; Mona Chisenhall of Brandon FL; Jeffrey Jessee of AL; Christina Jessee Saint of Lakeland FL; Victoria Jessee Dunn of Winter Haven FL; Randy Chisenhall of Croom-a-Coache FL; and Donna Harter of Leesburg FL. Marie had several great grandchildren, Including Aaron Gilly and Hannah Cornett of Big Stone Gap VA, Auston and Reanna Chisenhall of Florida, and many others. Marie is preceded in death by her husband, William Frank Chisenhall, her siblings Helen Carpenter and Jimmy Upchurch, and her parents Sid and Si Upchurch.
Marie will have visitation at Hodges Funeral Home of Dade City, Florida from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 and will have funeral services, officiated by Reverend Mark Frier at the Hodges Funeral Home chapel on Thursday, Dec. 3, at 10 a.m. Marie will be interred beside her late husband at Floral Memory Gardens in Dade City, with a reception to follow at the Dade City Church of God.
