Gap cancels parade for veterans

October 16, 2020

BIG STONE GAP — The town has decided not to host a Veterans Day parade this year.

During the Oct. 1 council workshop, Town Manager Steve Lawson noted that the parade has low participation and the town was also concerned about spectators adhering to social distancing recommendations.

Lawson stated that town crews will try to borrow a large American flag from a neighboring town and have it displayed. He also stated town crews will decorate with banners.
