Town reports virus case
BIG STONE GAP — A town employee has tested positive for COVID-19.
“The town of Big Stone Gap does have, as of last week, one positive COVID-19 case for an employee,” said Town Manager Stephen Lawson.
Lawson informed council of the positive case during the council workshop Tuesday night.
Another employee who was in close proximity to the person who tested positive is in quarantine for 14 days. Lawson stated that he anticipated that a third employee would be contacted by the Virginia Department of Health.
Lawson stated that the three employees were the only ones who were working together.
During a Wednesday afternoon phone call, Lawson stated that the third employee was contacted by VDH and is also quarantined.
