Big Stone Gap native praises John Fox Jr. article

July 15, 2020

I just wanted to say thank you to Mr. Howard Cummins for his article on John Fox Jr.  Such an intelligent man, John Fox Jr. is definitely one of the “jewels “of the Gap. Thank you, Mr Cummins, for detailing Fox’s accomplishments and how well received the books, “Trail of the Lonesome Pine” and “Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come” were to the people.

I am a proud native of Big Stone Gap, worked in the June Tolliver House every summer, and was a cast member of the outdoor drama, fortunate enough to see the “stardom” of Barbara Polly, Tommy Masters, the McClanahan family, Harold Hill, Debbie Strang and many others first hand. I treasure those days and am so thankful for my life in Big Stone Gap.

Again, thank you Mr Cummins. I’m gathering my copies of both books for a trip down memory lane.  Thank you to the staff and writers of the Post. Though I’ve been gone from the area since 1995, I love reading the news and articles that bring me back to my childhood home on Wood Avenue.

Thank you and God bless each and everyone.
