FRANCIS ‘BILL’ W. BOWEN
Francis “Bill” W. Bowen, age 78, of Lake Station, IN, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart.
He was born in Pardee, Virginia on April 25, 1942 to the late Samuel and Lila (nee Williams) Bowen. He retired from US Steel after 42 years of service. Bill enjoyed working on cars, fishing, camping, and hunting. He adored his grandchildren and will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather.
Bill is survived by his children, Teresa (Dave) Workman, Kathy (Joey) Renfro, Robert Bowen, Tonya (Robert) Lowery, William Bowen; grandchildren, Vince, Vanessa, Andrew, Joseph, Tyler, Jordan, Logan, Gage, Gavin; great-grandchildren, Caraline, Chevelle, Aiden, Zoey, Carson, Cody, Christopher, Gunnar, Alexis; siblings, Nadine, Lorraine, Rosetta, Trina, Bill, Carl; best friend, William “Bud” Bouton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Betty (nee Campbell) Bowen; children, Crystal, Debra; siblings, Lester, Carter, John, Glen, Coy, Jim, Alta, Corraine, Bernice; and his parents.
Due to COVID-19 limitations, a restricted visitation for Bill’s family and friends will be held Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 12-2 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Ave. Lake Station, IN 46405. During this time only 25 people will be allowed into the building at a time to pay their last respects. A funeral service, with Pastor Bob Burton officiating, will begin at 2 pm at the funeral home. The funeral service will stream live on the Rees Funeral Homes Facebook Page.
