GENE CALDWELL
Gene Caldwell, 59, of East Stone Gap, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Gene graduated from Powell Valley High School class of 1979. During his high school years, he enjoyed playing football. after graduation, Gene worked for the Town of Big Stone Gap then was an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed fishing and golfing; he was a member of Cedar Hills Country Club. He loved his children, grandchildren and his four dogs.
Gene was preceded in death by his stepfather, Donald Caldwell, his father-in-law James Powers, grandmother, Eileen Mahan, and his special pet Jackie.
He is survived by his wife Denise Caldwell; his two sons, Jessee Caldwell (Alyssa), Andy Caldwell (Michelle Snyder); his mother, Judy Mahan; his father, Marvin Fields; five siblings, Matthew Fields, Marcus Fields, Malcum Fields, Brian Caldwell (Melissa), Susan Caldwell; grandchildren, Allyson Caldwell, Bradley Caldwell; special friends, golf buddies and neighbors, Ed Cox, Don Honeycutt, Joey Herron, W.P Gardner, and Gomer.
The family received friends for a drop by visitation due to recent health restrictions from on Monday, April 20 at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap.
The Committal Service was held in the Skeen’s Cemetery on Tuesday, April 21 at 2 p.m. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
