VENSON WAYNE BAKER

Venson Wayne Baker, 61, of Big Stone Gap, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Kingsport, TN, grew up in Duffield and lived most of his life in Big Stone Gap. He worked for Glass Machinery for 20 years and English Construction for 22 years. He was of Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Gladys (Bowen) Baker; and one brother, Junior Baker.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Jewel Baker; two daughters, Cynthia Rhoton (Scott), Blackwater and Felicia Peck (Zac), Church Hill, TN; granddaughter, Harper Peck; brother, Wilburn Baker (Lena), Jonesville; and several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 3 at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave., W., Big Stone Gap. The funeral service was conducted noon Wednesday with Carl Rogers ministering. Burial followed at the Baker Family Cemetery, Sourwood Drive, Cliff Mountain, Duffield.
