HARLEY ELLIS CLIFTON

Harley Ellis Clifton, 96, of Big Stone Gap, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2020 at Lonesome Pine Hospital, with his family by his side.

Harley was of the Holiness faith. He enjoyed going to church and reminiscing about growing up in Imboden. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his father Ernest Smith Clifton, mother Amanda Ellen (Wells) Clifton, four brothers; Holly Delbert, Donald Clifton, Gerald Clifton, and Arthur Clifton; his loving wife of 47 years Mary Lee (White) Clifton, grandson, Jamey Joe Austin, daughter in law, Kimberly Clifton and son-in-law, Danny Joe Austin.

Mr. Clifton is survived by five children, Donald Clifton and wife Janice, Judy Large and husband Robbie, Barbara Austin, Benny Clifton, Linda Skeen husband Wendell, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, with two on the way.

The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3 at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap.

The funeral service was conducted on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at The Holiness Church of God chapel with Brother Mike Carver officiating. Special music was provided by the Holiness Church of God Singers. The graveside service followed in American Legion Cemetery.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all who cared for Mr. Clifton including Heritage Hall Nursing Home, and Lonesome Pine Hospital, Dr. Bishop and Dr. Abbott.
