Lenten services planned at area churches

LENTEN SERVICES
The Big Stone Gap Ministerial Support Group is sponsoring Lenten Services. The services will take place on Thursdays beginning Feb 27 and ending April 9. The services will take place noon-12:30 p.m. with a light lunch following for those who plan stay for fellowship. There will be a offering plate available to donate to the Food Bank.
The first Lenten Service will be Thursday Feb 27 at Heritage Church of God. The speaker will be Rev. Eddie KIlbourne of Cornerstone Church Of God with John and Martha McCarroll providing special music.
Next week’s Lenten Service will be Thursday March 5 at East Stone Gap United Methodist Church. The speaker will be Rev. Ronnie Mutter of the Heritage Church of God with Williams Chapel AME Zion Church providing special music.
Legion Memorial United Methodist Church will be hosting the Community Lenten Service on Thursday March 26.
MEN’S BREAKFAST
The next Men’s Breakfast is Sunday March 1. Men of all ages welcomed as well as those who can just drop in for breakfast prior to attending their own church. Arrive in time to prepare your food to have it ready to eat by 8:30.
UMW MEETING
The next meeting of the United Methodist Women is Monday, March 16 at 6 p.m.
JUICE BOXES
Legion Memorial United Methodist Church is collecting juice boxes during the month of March for students in need of food.
BIRTHDAYS
Happy birthday to Sharon Layell Feb. 17; LuAnn Summers Feb. 27; Jackie Lawson March 1; Anthony and Westley Swindall March 5. Cousins Nathan Blevins and Andrew Clarkston (birthdays 2 weeks apart) were honored with a party at the gym in Appalachia High School to celebrate their 13th birthdays. A big thank you to all who made it enjoyable.
