AT THE LAURELS

Gary and I were the family for our friend Nancy Buchanan’s Christmas and The Laurels last Thursday evening. The Laurels is decorated with winter scenes and Christmas decorations in every area available. The Popular Hill Reunion did a great job singing and playing the Christmas Carols. The finger foods were great! Grandchildren from all ages were there to see their grandparent for Christmas. It was a good place for families to spend time together. Santa came by and posed for pictures with the residents and their family and that was very good. A great evening of Christmas fun.

CHRISTMAS WITH FAMILY

Due to scheduling of all family we were in for a schedule change this year. Our son Shawn and his wife and three children came for our family time on Wednesday evening. Our daughter Sabrina, her youngest son James, and her husband Richard drove up on Christmas Eve from Smyrna, Georgia. We were able to share Christmas dinner together on Christmas Day as a family. The day after Christmas. Gary treated our family to a trip to the Barter Theatre to see “White Christmas” and dinner after the show. Gary’s niece, Gloria H. Smith joined us for our family outing. This was a great joyous Christmas for the Bush family this year.

BIRTHDAYS

Christmas Day was the day Randal Hicks was born so he celebrates both on the same day December 25. We all wish Randal a happy birthday and Merry Christmas.

Sarah S. Spears wishes her mom Linda Stidham a happy birthday on December 26.

LINDA MADDOX

We were saddened to learn of the passing of Sonny Maddox’s wife, Linda Maddox. Sonny was born and reared in Appalachia and was in the 1962 class at AHS. He and Linda made their home in Kingsport. Remember this family in your prayers.

We send our condolences to the family of Jackie Pitts. Jackie was employed by the town of Appalachia and he retired as Superintendent of the water plant. He was only 67 years old at the time of his passing peacefully at his residence in Appalachia.
