Holiday concert set for Dec. 21

The Winds of the Mountain Empire will present its second biennial Christmas holiday concert in the Union High School auditorium Saturday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. Admission is free. The program will include popular seasonal selections such as Sleigh Ride, Blue Christmas, The Night Before Christmas, a medley from Home Alone, A Rollicking Hannukah, and the wind band classic by Alfred Reed, Russian Christmas Music.
Founded by conductor Dr. Donald Sorah in 2006, The Winds is a professional wind ensemble comprised of musicians — primarily music educators — from Southwest Virginia, northeast Tennessee and southeast Kentucky.
