APRIL ROBERTS

April Roberts 44, of Big Stone Gap, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019, she is free of the earthly bonds and is now comforted in Abraham’s Bosom as Her Master related to us. A new body, unconstrained, with a spirit that was never handicapped.

She has been laughing in her sleep the last couple weeks, which she hadn’t done in several years. We always knew she was speaking with Angels during those times. She loved the praise times at church and often saw Angels during the services. As a person in whom there was no wrongdoing, she could see into that realm.

She almost made it to her 45th birthday, blessed by the Lord, when she wasn’t expected to live a year or so. Her doctors over the years have been great, here locally as well as at UVA Charlottesville. Lonesome Pine Hospital doctors and staff always took great care of her, as has Advanced Home Medical for the last 10 years. The Rescue Squad services of Valley Volunteer and Big Stone Gap (which made that final run) were always great. Her sitter and friend of the last several years, Angie Stallard has been a great help. Special thanks to the uncountable, but registered by our Father, many who have prayed and ministered for and to her over all the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Linda Upchurch and Randall Roberts, her maternal grandparents, Claude and Orpha Warf, paternal grandparents, Howard and Myrtle Roberts.

April is survived by her stepfather, Charles Upchurch and his wife Mary Jane of Big Stone Gap, brother, Eric Roberts and wife Marisha of Appalachia, stepbrother, Derek Upchurch of Kingsport TN, four nieces; Alexandria Upchurch, Danielle Roberts, Madison Roberts, and Lindsey Roberts, one uncle, Steve Warf wife Sherry of Etowah TN, other close relatives, church members, and friends.

The family received friends on Monday, Oct. 21 at Holding Funeral Home from 5 until 7 p.m. for the visitation. The funeral service followed in the funeral home’s chapel with Pastor Brad Stapleton officiating. The committal service was held on Tuesday, Oct. 22 in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
