LUCY ANNE MASTERS

Lucy Anne Masters (Sturgill), age 92, died on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at her home in Kettering, Ohio.

Lucy is survived by her husband of 71 years, John (J.B.) Masters, daughter, Joyce Casci (Arthur), grandchildren, Anne Ausserer (Joseph), Elizabeth Bier (James), John Casci (Mary), Mary Schuh (Ryan), and eight great-grandchildren, Daniel, Lucy, Christopher, Benjamin, Andrew, Katherine, Vivian, and Baby Schuh.

Lucy is preceded in death by her daughter, Janis Verrill (Lyle), parents, Velma and Albert Sturgill, sister, Marjorie Lea (Robert) and brother, Edmund Sturgill (Phyllis).

Lucy Sturgill was born on July 22, 1929 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, to parents, Velma and Albert Sturgill. She cherished the love and support she received from her mother, Velma, and grandparents, Walter and Lottie Bunn during her upbringing in Big Stone. As a youth, Lucy was baptized in the Baptist Church.  She married the love of her life, J. B. Masters on Sept 1, 1950.  Soon after, Lucy settled in Dayton, Ohio and was eventually joined by her husband, having to endure years of separation due to J.B.’s schooling and service in Korea.  Lucy was instrumental in helping her brother and sister, relocate to the Dayton area,  find employment, and settle down with families.   Lucy worked at Dayton Press for many years advancing to the position of job setter on the magazine assembly line. Lucy, with her husband J.B, lived a life of sacrifice and service to her mother, siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, always working tirelessly for their happiness and success. She will be missed dearly by her husband and all her family and friends.
